Nhan Dan – The ethnic Cham Bani people in Ninh Thuan province have begun festivities to celebrate their new year with the traditional Ramuwan festival, to be held July 7-9.

The Ramuwan festival, considered the most important festival for the Islamic community in the province, features traditional rituals and activities such as worshipping ceremonies and the cleaning and decorating of ancestral graves.

A series of cultural and sporting activities will also be organised during the festival, which attracts thousands of local people as well as tourists.

On this occasion, provincial leaders have visited and presented gifts to representatives of the Islamic Cham Community and outstanding dignitaries, as well as local Cham people in the province.

The Ninh Thuan People’s Committee has also instructed cities and districts to partner with the provincial Fatherland Front Central Committee and other organisations to create favourable conditions for the management of the festival.
