Myanmar State Counsellor pays official visit to Vietnam

Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi paid an official visit to Vietnam on April 19-20 at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During her visit, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi held talks with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; paid a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; and met with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. On the occasion, the two nations issued a joint statement.

In addition, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of post, telecommunications and information technology, and another on information cooperation.

Iranian Speaker of Parliament’s visit enhances Vietnam – Iran ties

Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Ali Ardeshir Larijani paid a four-day official visit to Vietnam from April 15, at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

While in Vietnam, Speaker Ali Ardeshir Larijani held talks with NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; paid courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; and met with Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man.

The Speaker’s successful visit contributed to the enhancement and development of the friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese and Iranian people.

National, Asia-Pacific quality awards bestowed on 77 firms

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on April 22 to honour 77 enterprises which won the 2017 National Quality Awards and International Asia Pacific Quality Award (IAPQA).

Up to 73 enterprises won the 2017 National Quality Awards. Among them, 15 received the National Quality Gold Awards, while 58 took silver awards.

Ton Dong A Corporation, Khanh Hoa Salangane Nests Company, Viet Duc Steel Company, and Long Hau Corporation were four IAPQA winners of the year.

Top 500 firms with best growth and prosperity announced

Best firms of the FAST500 list honoured at the event

The Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Report), in coordination with VietNamnet Bridge, held a ceremony in Hanoi on April 18 to announce the FAST500 list in 2018 and the BP500 – the top 500 most prosperous firms.

The list of firms was drawn-up based on independent research and assessment outcomes conducted by Vietnam Report.

According to the FAST500 2018, Masan Resource Corporation, Khang Dien House Trading and Investment JSC, FIT Group, Transport and Industry Development Investment JSC and Vietjet Aviation JSC secured the top positions on the list.

Meanwhile, Asia Foods Corporation, Quang Trung Industry JSC, Vinafeed Group, ADC Company, and Co May Lai Vung Company topped the list of the most prosperous firms - BP500.

HRAwards launched to honour outstanding manpower policies in Vietnam

The launch ceremony of the third biennial Vietnam HRAwards was held Hanoi on April 18 by the Labour and Social Affairs newspaper, under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), and Talentnet Corporation to honour the outstanding strategies and manpower policies in Vietnam.

This year’s awards are divided in two groups. Group A is open for enterprises with outstanding HR, who have operated in Vietnam for at least 15 years and have at least 100 employees.

Meanwhile, Group B honours enterprises that have deployed effective HR policies with at least five- year of operations in Vietnam and have at least 50 employees.

2018 Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day opens

The 2018 Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day was officially opened on April 19 at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in the Dong Mo tourism area of Son Tay town, Hanoi.

The three-day event featured a workshop on ethnic youths and the traditional values of Vietnamese families; a special art programme; cultural exchanges, folk games and the specific festivals of ethnic groups.

During the cultural day, each ethnic group presented their distinctive cuisine, cultural features and traditional products.

Winners of National Book Awards honored

Twenty-two good books and thirteen nice books were honoured in the first National Book Awards 2018 at a ceremony in Hanoi on April 19.

The first National Book Awards of 2018 featured the participation of 40 publishers, with a total of 514 book titles, which competed in two categories: good books and nice books.

The organising board presented three A, nine B, and ten C prizes in the good books category. Meanwhile, in the nice book category, three A, five B, and five C prizes were granted.

Outstanding IT products and services honoured at Sao Khue Awards 2018

Seventy-three of Vietnam's outstanding software products and IT services were honoured at a ceremony to present the 2018 Sao Khue Awards, held in Hanoi on April 21.

In 2018, the programme received 103 nominations from 80 organisations and enterprises nationwide. The organising board, with judges and experts from the relevant ministries, sectors, and press agencies, has reviewed and decided to grant the awards to 51 software products and 22 IT services.

They also selected the Top 10 Sao Khue 2018, to recognise the ten best IT solutions, including the electronic banking programme BIDV iBank by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), the e-export service from the FPT Software Company, and the e-medical record system ISOFHCARE by the ISOFH Technical Company, among others.

Vietnam in Pot 1 for 2020 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers draw

The seeding for the upcoming draw of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers has been confirmed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), with Vietnam’s U23 team being placed in Pot 1 of the East Zone as the reigning Asian runners-up.

Park Hang-seo’s side is joined by other powers in the region, such as the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Malaysia has also been seeded in the same pot as Vietnam following their top-eight finish at the recent 2018 AFC U23 Championship, which was also their debut at the continental-level tournament.

As the defending Asian champions, Uzbekistan U23s have been named in Pot 1 of the West Zone, together with Qatar, Iraq, Palestine, and Jordan.
