Party leader welcomes Cuban First Vice President in Hanoi

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Nguyen Phu Trong, had a meeting with First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Salvado Valdes Mesa, in Hanoi, on September 13.

The Cuban delegation was in Vietnam to attend the activities to mark 45 years since leader Fidel Castro visited the liberated area in the south of Vietnam in September 1973. First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba Salvado Valdes Mesa was also received by President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Fidel’s historic visit to Vietnam remembered in Quang Tri

The Fidel Park was also inaugurated in the central province of Quang Tri on September 15.

A ceremony was held in the central province of Quang Tri on the evening of September 14 to mark 45 years since Cuban leader Fidel Castro visited the liberated zone in southern Vietnam.

Addressing the event, Tran Quoc Vuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat, said Fidel’s trip to the liberated zone brought the solidarity and valuable support of the Cuban people to Vietnam. The Fidel Park was also inaugurated in the central province of Quang Tri on September 15 to mark the 45th anniversary of the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberated area in southern Vietnam in September 1973.

WEF ASEAN 2018 wraps up with success in various fields

The World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 (WEF ASEAN 2018) was successfully held in Vietnam from September 11-13.

According to WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Prof. Klaus Schwab, it was the most successful regional meeting of the WEF. The WEF ASEAN 2018, themed “ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industry Revolution”, attracted the leaders of the ASEAN countries and partner nations, over 1,000 delegates who are WEF members, and representatives of businesses from around the world.

Nhan Dan newspaper attends 42nd Avante Festival opens pavilion at L'Humanité festival

Nhan Dan Newspaper’s Deputy Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Khanh presents a gift to Denis Rondepierrre, a Politburo member of the French Communist Party.

A Nhan Dan newspaper delegation, led by Deputy Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Khanh, participated in an array of activities at the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP)’s 42th Avante Festival from September 7 to 9. During the festival, the delegation of Nhan Dan Newspaper also took part and delivered a speech at a seminar on Karl Marx, as well as holding many exchanges with international delegations attending the festival.

The pavilion of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper at the annual L'Humanité festival was opened on the afternoon of September 14 at La Courneuve Park on the outskirts of Paris. The event was attended by Denis Rondepierre, a Politburo member of the French Communist Party, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep, the Lao Ambassador to France, and representatives of L'Humanité, the Cuban Embassy, the local government and Vietnam-France friendship organisations.

Vietnam’s rice exports up in both volume and value in first eight months

Vietnam exported 4.53 million tonnes of rice in the first eight months of 2018, bringing in US$2.29 billion, a rise of 10.5% in volume and 26.5% in value, according to the General Department of Customs.

In August, rice shipments saw a strong increase against previous months, with export prices averaging US$489.1 per tonne. China was the largest buyer of Vietnamese rice, accounting for nearly one quarter of Vietnam’s rice shipments. The average price of rice exports to the world’s second largest economy was US$521.1 per tonne.

Vietnamese Cultural Week opens in Cambodia

The Vietnamese Culture Week opened at Chaktomuk theatre, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on September 11.

The opening ceremony featured Vietnamese folk songs and dances and performances of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, as well as melodies praising the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship. As planned, after a performance in Phnom Penh, the Vietnamese art delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Le Khanh Hai, will continue to perform in Battambang province, Cambodia.

Hanoi crowned champions of 2018 V-League

A second half brace by substitute Hoang Vu Samson helped Hanoi FC defeat Song Lam Nghe An 2-0 on September 9, thus becoming the earliest team in V-League history to win the championship title as there are still five games left to play in Vietnam’s top flight league.

Beating Nghe An 2-0, Hanoi officially become the new champions of the V-League with five games in hand. They consolidated their top spot with 54 points after 21 rounds, keeping the distance of 16 points with the second ranked Sanna Khanh Hoa, who also won 2-1 against Nam Dinh in this round.
