A US F-15 fighter jet crashed into the sea off Japan's Okinawa on June 11 morning, reports said. US military confirmed the crash and said that a pilot was ejected and safely rescued.

* Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani agreed during their talks on June 10 on the sideline of the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to step up pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

* Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) pledged US$2.5 billion of aid to Jordan on June 11, a joint statement from the Gulf states said, as austerity measures sparked massive protests in the country.

* Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticised US "unliteralism" in withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and said on June 10 he appreciated efforts by China and Russia to maintain the agreement.

* Tropical storm Bud formed on Sartuday (June 9) night off the Mexican coast and is currently 385km south-southwest of the port of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, the national weather service, National Meteorological Service (SMN), announced on June 10.

* Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali vowed on June 10 that Ethiopia will not harm Egypt's share of the Nile River water through the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
