NDO – A new playground for students to experience e-commerce was launched in Hanoi on September 10 by the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency in collaboration with Amazon Global Selling and T&T Group.

Held for the first time on a national scale, the Vietnam’s Cross-Border E-Commerce Talents 2019 contest aims to provide a practical, professional playground to meet the needs of global business experiences for students.

Participating in the competition, students will present ideas and business plans related to products and services that can be deployed with a cross-border e-commerce model. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to participate in training courses on e-commerce, business planning and global branding.

Speaking at the launching ceremony at the National Economics University, Lai Viet Anh, deputy head of the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that cross-border e-commerce is the new direction for Vietnam. This is a young area of the economy so it is necessary to have a young workforce with a passion and enthusiasm to achieve miracles, she said.

The competition is a joint effort to increase the social awareness of cross-border e-commerce as well as to improve the quality of the industry's human resources, aiming to expand business and exports globally. “This is also an opportunity for students to promote their own unique products to foreign markets, gradually bringing Vietnamese brands closer to the world,” Anh emphasised.

At the launching ceremony, some 700 students and leaders from the Agency and representatives of Amazon Global Selling and T&T Group exchanged with successful online sellers and different service providers on various fields related to e-commerce, such as payment, shipping, legal, product posting, advertising and account management.

The organisers said that ten participating groups with the best business projects will be selected and receive direct support from iDEA, Amazon Global Selling, T&T Group, Payoneer and other companies to realise their products and services.

Tran Kim Oanh, director of International Trade and Investment Promotion Division under the T&T Group, said that with support from Amazon – the leading e-commerce platform with more than 300 million active customer accounts – the contest would not only help students participate in gaining valuable e-commerce skills and experiences, but also open up new avenues for them and inspire the Vietnamese students’ community in developing cross-border business ideas.
