NDO - The Vietnamese government is strongly committed to improving the business climate, said Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung at the Horasis Asia Meeting, which opened on November 26 in Binh Duong province.

He stated that the central government has directed ministries and local authorities to take action to ensure a fair and transparent business environment in order to enhance Vietnam’s competitiveness.

The Deputy PM also underlined a number of priorities pursued by the government, including maintaining macroeconomic stability while adopting a flexible and proactive monetary policy in accordance with market signals.

The 2018 Horasis Asia Meeting is co-hosted by Binh Duong province and Becamex IDC Corp, bringing together over 400 senior leaders from businesses and the government to explore and advance regional cooperation, impact investing and sustainable growth.

At the forum, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung informed the participants on Vietnam’s notable achievements in the past 30 years and its efforts to improve the business environment.

He stated that Vietnam is one of most attractive foreign investment destinations in the world and the country has also signed numerous free trade agreements, thereby opening new opportunities for Vietnam to take a larger part in global value chains and production networks.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Binh Duong Chairman Tran Thanh Liem stated that Binh Duong province has been transformed from a rural backwater to a key industrial province over the past 20 years thanks to its determination to reform.

With a favourable business climate, an abundant workforce and developed infrastructure, Binh Duong province is now one of the largest recipients of foreign direct investment in Vietnam, he added.

The 2018 Horasis Asia Meeting, consisting of four plenary sessions and 36 discussion sessions, is an opportunity for participants to share their views and experience in new business and advanced development models, thus helping to deal with the problems arising from industrial development in an effective manner.
