NDO - The Vietnamese trade mission in Israel and BDO Israel, a local accounting and consulting firm, jointly held a workshop on investment and business opportunities in Vietnam on November 5.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce and 35 Israeli firms operating in various fields.

In her opening remarks, Einat Halevy Levin, Vietnam Desk Manager at BDO, introduced the prospects of the Vietnamese market and stated that many Israeli companies are showing their interest in doing business in Vietnam and importing Vietnamese products.

She said the workshop is a good occasion for Israeli firms to seek business cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.

At the event, Vietnamese trade counsellor Le Thai Hoa gave a presentation on Vietnam’s economic situation, business environment and the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed and is negotiating with other countries.

Many Israeli companies expressed their interest in Vietnam’s preferential policies for foreign investment and wish to connect with Vietnamese manufacturers of the goods of interest to Israel, such as food, agricultural produce, seafood, consumer goods, garments and furniture.

A number of Israeli firms already doing business with Vietnam also shared their experience, stating that there is great potential for further cooperation between the two countries’ businesses.

Concluding the workshop, many Israeli companies stated that they plan to conduct market survey trips and attend trade fairs in Vietnam in order to discover mutual cooperation needs.

The latest data showed that trade between the two countries reached over US$790 million in the first nine months of 2019, of which Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of US$410 million.
