NDO – The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) held a ceremony in Hanoi on December 21 to mark its 65th anniversary of Traditional Day and receive the Labour Order, first class.

Speaking to the EVN staff, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung asked them to focus all resources on the importance of supplying higher quality and more reliable power for socio-economic on goings and the daily use of the people.

As the major State-owned firm in the power sector, EVN was asked to improve its restructuring efforts, thus enhancing its effectiveness and competitiveness.

The Deputy PM also urged the firm to renovate and re-arrange its power generation, distribution, retail and operation systems, as well as the electricity market to ensure the effective functioning of the wholesale power market.

Vietnam's electricity system currently ranks second among 10 Southeast Asian countries and 23rd in the world in terms of capacity, which currently reaches over 54,000 MW.
