NDO – A seminar on collecting and promoting the heritage of Vietnamese historians and a ceremony to receive documents and exhibits of Professor and People’s Teacher Vu Duong Ninh were held by the Centre for Heritage of Vietnamese Scientists and Scholars in the northern province of Hoa Binh on July 19.

The seminar was attended by a large number of scientists, historians, educators and those interested in the heritage of Vietnamese historians.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huy, Professional Director of Centre, the collections of documents and objects donated by the scientists to the Centre not only reflects their process of learning and labour, but has also contributed to clarifying the picture of Vietnamese history in different times.

On this occasion, Professor and People’s Teacher Vu Duong Ninh, former Dean of the International Studies Department, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Hanoi) presented the Centre nearly 700 documents and exhibits which are the result of his research over many years.

Professor Vu Duong Ninh is known as the first person to introduce the history of glabal civilisation to teaching programme in universities in Vietnam and is one of the initiators and founders of international studies in Vietnam.

These documents and artifacts not only reflect the life and career of Professor Vu Duong Ninh, but are also considered as valuable resources for learning about the development of the Historical Science in Vietnam.
