NDO - Classical and contemporary paintings by Romanian artists are being displayed at an exhibition that opened in Hanoi on March 10 as an event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam – Romania diplomatic ties.

Romanian painting witnessed significant changes from the 19th to 21st centuries. Romanian painters have established a distinguished style in their artworks by combining modernity with traditional values.

The exhibits include paintings by three great Romanian painters, including Nicolae Grigorscu (1838-1907), one of the founders of modern Romanian painting who brought a breath of fresh air to Romanian art; Ion Andreescu (1850-1882), whose works often focused on natural landscapes; and Henri Catagi (1894-1976), one of the leading Romanian painters who tried to blend European influence into traditional Romanian arts.

Visitors to the exhibition can also admire artworks by other Romanian painters including Ion Pacea, Ion Murariu, and Petre Atanasie, as well as the latest paintings by celebrated Vietnamese female painter Van Duong Thanh.

The exhibition will run until March 15 at the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, 32 Hao Nam Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi.
