NDO – More than 100 dancers and dance groups are taking part in the 2020 Talented Dancers’ Competition which was recently launched by the Department of Performing Arts, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Dancing Artists’ Association.

The contest will take place on October 9 and 10 at the Military Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City before getting underway at Au Co Theatre in Hanoi on October 13-14.

It is open to dancers who are working at professional State-run and private dance troupes as well as students at dance training facilities nationwide, and freelance dancers aged 16 years and above.

The contest aims to discover young dancing talents while helping entrants to show their performing skills and exchange experience with their colleagues from across the country.

The competition features four categories, including classic and contemporary ballet for individuals, contemporary dance for individuals, folklore and traditional dance for both individuals and collectives, and modern street dance (such as Hip Hop, Popping, Breakdance, and Locking) for both individuals and collectives.

An awards ceremony for the best performers will take place at the Hanoi Opera House on October 17.
