NDO – In the early days of the new lunar year, besides going to temples to pray for luck and success or asking for lucky calligraphy, many people in Hanoi choose to visit bookstores to choose books for themselves. Organised for the first time in 2016, the Hanoi Book Street in Hoan Kiem District has become an interesting meeting place for Hanoi’s book lovers and visitors every spring.

Taking place from January 27 to the end of February 3, the book street brings together more than 20 book stalls of units and publishers, offering diverse choices for book lovers.

Book street space has been attractively decorated for spring Hanoians and tourists.

With its theme revolving around the development of reading culture in the lives of people and especially young people, the 2020 Spring Book Street features activities highlighting the theme.

At bookstores of traditional publishers, tens of thousands of new and meaningful books have been prepared and introduced to readers.

Most of the publications on display during the event are being sold with a discount of 20-50%.

Many eye-catching book publications, with attractive content, are being introduced to readers.

Families choose meaningful books on the first day of spring.

The space of the book street becomes the place to travel to in the spring and take photos in the first days of the new year.

Besides displaying book and other activities such as exchange programmes and talks about books and reading culture, there are also performances and talks about calligraphy, the introduction of a Tet newspaper space, an exhibition of Dong Ho and Hang Trong folk paintings, and traditional art programs in this year’s event.
