NDO—Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh on November 9 attended a ceremony in Duong Khe Residential Area in the commune of Cao Xa in the district of Lam Thao in Phu Tho Province to celebrate the annual Great National Unity Festival.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Binh, who is also Head of the Steering Committee for the Northwestern region, expressed his appreciation for the achievements that the residents of Duong Khe have made in economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction and developing cultural life in residential areas.

He also emphasised that the annual festival had contributed to promoting the tradition of unity, gathering people from all social strata to create a mighty force.

The Politburo member asked the Party committee, Government and Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue to encourage residents to implement democratic regulations at grassroots and village conventions.

The authorities should focus on hunger eradication, poverty reduction and care for policy beneficiary families, as well as enhancing innovation of the content and modes of operation of the campaign “All People Unite to Build New-Style Rural Areas and Civilised Urban Areas” launched by the VFF Central Committee, added Politburo member Binh.

On the same day, the Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh attended the opening ceremony for the programme “Presenting and Connecting Supply and Demand of Technology” in the province of Thai Nguyen.

He emphasised that the Party and State considered science and technology top national priorities, the driving force behind socioeconomic development and a priority industry for investment.

The Head of the PCC’s Economic Commission urged the agencies at all levels to synchronously and effectively implement policies to bring scientific and technological applications into real life.

He also asked that the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as relevant ministries and branches, develop the presentation, transfer and application of scientific and technological advances soon to promote the socioeconomic development of the Northern Mountainous Midland Region.

After the opening ceremony, the delegates visited the exhibition area where more than 100 pavilions presented various technologies. The series of events related to supply-demand connection in the field of technology will run until November 11.
