PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc works with Ministry of Defence

NDO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a working session with the leaders of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) on November 29.

At the meeting, the government leader was briefed on the ministry’s expanded international cooperation which seeks to balance relations with major powers and enhance the position of the country and its military on the international stage.

In 2018, the ministry also submitted strategies to safeguard the national border and defend the nation in cyberspace to the Politburo, as well as took action to strengthen the all-people defence posture.

Furthermore, the military’s combat readiness and capabilities were enhanced, while military units also took an active role in search and rescue operations and dealing with natural disasters.

In 2019 the MOD will continue to increase its capacity to firmly defend national sovereignty and ensure a peaceful and stable environment for development, the ministry’s leaders informed the PM.

Concluding the meeting, PM Phuc highly appreciated the achievements of the MOD in the past year, especially the development of important strategies to strongly defend the country’s sovereignty and security.

He urged the entire military to remain on high alert for sabotage plots of hostile forces and firmly protect the nation.

At the meeting, PM Phuc also gave his opinions on a number of proposals made by the MOD.
