NDO – Quang Ninh province needs to promote sustainable economic development by making use of regional linkages and its potentials, Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh has urged.

The senior Party official, who is also head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, led a delegation from the commission to work with the local authorities on July 12, discussing the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress and the provincial socio-economic development orientation by 2025, with visions to 2030 and 2045.

Reports at the meeting showed that after three years of implementing the resolutions, Quang Ninh's economy continues to achieve high growth. The province has adopted strategic breakthroughs and economic restructuring towards sustainable development.

Its economic growth rate in the 2016-2018 period reached an average of 10.5% a year. Gross Regional Domestic Product in 2018 reached US$5,110 per capita, 1.3 times higher than that in 2015. State budget revenue (domestic revenue) always stood in the top five provinces nationwide.

Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member Binh highly praised the results that Quang Ninh has achieved in recent years, urging the northern province to better promote its potentials and strengths for economic development.

In addition to improving the quality of services, Quang Ninh should attach importance to industrial development in a modern and sustainable direction, striving to become a modern service and industrial province, an international tourist centre, a port centre for the region and an international trade gateway, Binh added.

Regarding the Party building, the province was asked to continue focusing on re-organising the political apparatus in the direction of streamlining effective and efficient operation.

The local Party committees at all level need to strengthen the innovation of leadership and better facilitate staff construction to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation, Binh urged.
