NDO – The promotion of President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on Party building work was on discussion at a symposium hosted by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Nhan Dan Newspaper in Hanoi on August 12.

Themed "50 years of following President Ho Chi Minh's Testament on Party building," the event gathered leaders from the academy and Nhan Dan along with researchers and experts in the field. It was among the first activities of a series of events across the country to mark the 50th anniversary of the implementation of the beloved leader’s testament (1969-2019).

Speaking at the opening, the director of the academy, Nguyen Xuan Thang, said that the seminar was an opportunity to re-examine the 50-year period of inheriting, promoting and applying Uncle Ho's thoughts on Party building, while affirming the historical value and theoretical and practical significance of the Will, thereby confirming the great value and sustainability of the document in the new context.

Thang, who is also Head of the Party Central Committee’s Theoretical Council, stated that via the discussions at the conference, there would be orientations and solutions to effectively implement the Party building work towards improving the Party's leadership and capacity, while educating Party officials and members and strengthening the trust of cadres, Party members and people in the Party’s leadership to successfully carry out the tasks in building and protecting the fatherland.

The seminar featured 20 presentations and comments from scholars, researchers and experts showing their in-depth research on President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style and also his testament – the theoretical work on building and strengthening the ruling Party.

Thuan Huu, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, said that President Ho Chi Minh's Testament is the summary of the noble values in ideology, morality and style, as well as the aspiration, affection, will, belief and responsibility of the outstanding leader towards the fatherland, the people and the revolutionary cause.

Besides the Party building aspect, the document is also a work on building socialism in Vietnam and outlines the theory of Doi Moi (innovation) in the country. After half a century, President Ho Chi Minh's Testament is still the extremely valuable asset with huge historical significance, bearing the theoretical values and profound practices for the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people, Huu stated.

According to Huu, who is also Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education and President of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, to carry out what Uncle Ho mapped out in his will on Party building, in each revolutionary period, the Party has determined that Party building work is always a key task. The promotion of Party construction and adjustment has been set in multiple Party resolutions through various terms up to now, in association with promoting the learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

In the current term, the Party continues to strongly carry out the construction and adjustment of the Party in association with the restructuring of the political system towards a streamlined and effective apparatus. That is the practical action to follow Uncle's Will, to build the Party pure and strong, as well as strengthening the Party's capacity and affirming its prestige and leadership with the trust of the people.
