NDO – Thirty-five outstanding press works in various forms have been honoured with the second National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption and wastefulness during 2018-2019.

The winners were granted the award at a ceremony held in Hanoi on the night of August 15, with the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Speaking at the award ceremony, PM Phuc hailed the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the Vietnam Television in co-organising the award.

Sending his congratulations to the winning authors and groups, the cabinet leader stressed that the press works participating in the event have vividly reflected the country's innovation practices and the movement against corruption and wastefulness, with multiple outstanding journalism products having been made with endeavour, creating a snowball effect in the society.

President of the VFF Central Committee, Tran Thanh Man, who is also the head of the organising board, said that the anti-corruption work has been drastically led by the Party and State and achieved positive results, wining the trust and support from the people to contribute to maintaining political stability and socio-economic development. The award-winning works have reflected the fight from different angles, introducing policies and good models in promoting the fight against corruption and wastefulness, he stated.

At the event, PM Phuc and Politburo member and permanent member of the Central Party Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong presented the four A (top) prizes to reporters from Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper, the Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam Television.

The organisers also awarded nine B, ten C and twelve encouragement prizes to the authors with winning works.

The winning press works were selected from 1,002 entries of four types of media – print, online, radio and television – from over 100 news and media outlets nationwide sent to the organisers by June 21, 2019.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the organisers, VFF President Man launched the third National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption and wastefulness, calling for more journalists and collaborators throughout the country to participate towards improving the scale and quality of this important journalism award.
