Activities mark 90th anniversary of Communist Party of Vietnam’s founding

NDO – A wide range of activities are being held nationwide to mark the 90th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s founding (February 3, 1930-2020).

An exhibition featuring the 90-year long history of the CPV opened in Hanoi on January 15, with Politburo member and Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, Vo Van Thuong, attending and cutting the ribbon to open the exhibition.

On display are over 200 photos, materials and artefacts introducing the country’s most important milestones and glorious achievements under the leadership of the CPV.

They are divided into four sections featuring the CPV’s leadership of the struggle to win back the administration from 1930 to 1945, the fight for national liberation and reunification from 1945 to 1975, the socialist revolution nationwide and national renovation since 1975, and the Party building work. The event will go on until March 31.

★ Following the direction from the Secretariat, the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education launched a multiple-choice quiz on the CPV history on Vietnam-made social network Vcnet. The weekly quiz took place from August 26 to December 30 last year, attracting more than 3.2 million entries, an average of 178,000 per week.

After more than four months, over 50 million visitors accessed the site to learn about the history of the CPV on the CPV Online Newspaper and Vcnet. Over 18 weeks, the organisers awarded 198 prizes, including 18 first, 36 second, 54 third and 90 consolation prizes at a total value of VND396 million. Ha Tinh Province won the most prizes with 42 awards, while Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai from Ben Tre Province won the highest prizes with two first, one third prize and one consolation prize.

★ On January 15, in Vinh City, a photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh opened featuring over 100 valuable documents and images celebrating Uncle Ho, confirming his great role and merit for the establishment and development of the CPV, as well as for the country’s revolution. The event will run across the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

★ On the same day, in Thai Nguyen City, Thai Nguyen Province, an exhibition on the history of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee opened, displaying more than 150 photos, documents and artefacts on the establishment and development of the province’s Party cell, as well as the revolutionary spirit of the local people under the leadership of the province’s Party Committee and outstanding socio-economic achievements of Thai Nguyen. The exhibition will last until February 5.

★The 90-year development of the CPV is featured at an exhibition opening in the northern province of Bac Ninh on January 15, through more than 300 photos, documents and objects. With three parts, the exhibition offers visitors an insight into Vietnam’s situation and patriotic movements in the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, Nguyen Ai Quoc (an alias of late President Ho Chi Minh)’s activities towards Marxism-Leninism, the conference on the establishment of the CPV and the Party’s first political platform.

The exhibition, which runs until February 3, devotes a space to local outstanding revolutionary soldiers who were jailed by imperialists and colonialists during the wars, helping to educate young generations about the tradition of patriotism. It also highlights milestones and significant achievements Vietnam and Bac Ninh in particular have recorded under the Party leadership over the past nine decades, especially the more than 30 years of reform.

★ On January 15, at the Exhibition House No. 16 Ngo Quyen street, Hanoi, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association opened an exhibition featuring 170 new paintings by 170 members of the association on the theme of the Party, the country and the spring to welcome the Lunar New Year 2020. The exhibition takes place until January 22.

★ A Spring Press Festival 2020 opened the same day in Da Nang City, with the participation of 21 press agencies in the city, displaying nearly 800 publications, along with 50 press photos. The event runs until January 30.

★ The same press festival also opened in Lang Son Province on the same day, introducing hundreds of publications from local and central press agencies. The event is open to readers up until February 3, after which publications at the festival will be presented to officials and soldiers on duty at the bordering areas in Lang Son.
