NDO – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on August 1 to mark the 90th anniversary of the Party’s communications and education sector (August 1, 1930-2020).

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education Vo Van Thuong.

On August 1, 1930, the Commission for Propaganda and Communications of the Communist Party of Vietnam published a document titled “International Red Day, August 1”, which attracted the great attention from people and mobilised revolutionary masses in the country to fight against imperialism and oppression while opposing aggressive wars and supporting the national liberation movement.

In 2000, the Politburo decided to choose August 1 to be the anniversary day of the Party’s communications and education sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Vo Van Thuong affirmed that over the past 90 years, the communications and education sector has become an inseparable part of the revolutionary cause of the Party and nation.

He also noted that, as an important basic part of Party building and a “sharp weapon” of the entire operation of the Party, the communications and education work has contributed to developing the political foundation of the regime and the spiritual foundation of the society.

The sector has also formulated theoretical points of view, credo, and proper leadership of the Party for the Vietnamese revolutionary cause while educating on the political bravery and revolutionary morality of communists, added the Politburo member.

He also said that communications and education sector has contributed to strengthening and fostering the belief and close relationship between the people and the Party.

He affirmed that the review of the development of the Party’s communications and education sector will help younger generations to respect the past as well as expressed infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh who found and trained the Party as well as laid foundation for the communications and education cause of the Party.

Politburo member Thuong asked the sector to continuously innovate and improve the efficiency of their operations, contributing to building a clean and strong Party.
