NDO – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has thanked Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui for his active contributions to the development of the friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries over the past nearly 14 years.

The PM made the remark while hosting a reception for the outgoing diplomat in Hanoi on November 19, during which he affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to accelerating ties with Venezuela.

The leader voiced his belief that in any future positions, the ambassador would continue to be a connecting bridge between the two nations and further contribute to enhancing the fine relations between Vietnam and Venezuela.

In late January 2006, Uzcategui was the first Venezuelan ambassador to come to Vietnam, with the mission of opening Venezuela’s embassy in the Southeast Asian country, marking a new page in bilateral ties. Serving as the dean of the diplomatic corps since 2016, he has actively contributed to strengthening exchange and understanding between the diplomatic corps and the Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the meeting, Uzcategui expressed his gratitude for Vietnam’s support for Venezuela, stating that his country would continue to accelerate cooperation projects with Vietnam in the areas of mutual concern, including oil & gas and agriculture.

In recognition of his contributions, the Vietnamese State decided to present Uzcategui with the Friendship Order, a noble distinction for foreign individuals who have made significant contributions to the friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.
