NDO - Officials of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of Japan (CPJ) convened their ninth theoretical talks in Japan on December 2-12.

The Vietnamese delegation at the event was led by Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. The host side was led by Standing member of the Presidium and Director of CPJ Social Sciences Institute Fuwa Tetsuzo.

This year's talk, themed “The situation of the world and the region - opportunities and challenges for countries”, was conducted at a meaningful time when the CPV is building drafting documents for its 13th National Congress whilst the CPJ is also preparing for its 28th National Congress.

During the talk, the two sides exchanged on major issues of the world and the region, focusing on analysing and identifying major development trends of the situation and the implications for the revolutionary cause and responsibility of each party.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese delegation was also received by Executive Committee Chairman of the CPJ Shii Kazuo.

The two sides expressed their delight at the fine development of the traditional friendship between the two parties in recent years, and agreed to continue to actively implement cooperative agreements.

Comrade Shii Kazuo affirmed that the relationship with the CPV was the most important relationship in the external relations of the CPJ.

The CPJ expressed its support for Vietnam's position on resolving disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, based on international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea, ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in the region.
