At the event, Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Chairman of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations reviewed the process of establishing the relationship between Vietnam and the US.
He emphasised: “Overcoming difficulties and differences, with the tireless efforts of the two countries, the relationship between Vietnam and the US has gone through many stages and has developed strongly across all fields and levels.
He also stated that bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and the US has strongly developed in both breadth and depth, not only in political - diplomatic relations but in all other fields such as economics, trade, investment, security - defense, education, cultural exchange, science - public technology and from bilateral and regional fields to cooperation on a global scale, properly expressing a spirit of comprehensive partnership.
Referring to the relationship between the Da Nang city and the US, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that Da Nang has established a friendly relationship and cooperation with three US localities, including Oakland (California), Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) and Houston (Texas) - laying the foundations for friendly, bilateral cooperation across many fronts.
In 2020, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the efforts of the two sides, important cooperation between Da Nang and its US partners still persisted in flexible forms.
Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that the potential for cooperation between Da Nang and its US partners is huge. In particular, Da Nang aims to become one of the major socio-economic centres of Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In order to realize that goal, the city will continue to improve the business investment environment and be ready to create optimal conditions for US investors in the fields of tourism, high quality services, ports, aviation, logistics, and high-tech industry.
