NDO/VNA – The Government has asked ministries, sectors, and localities to closely monitor developments in domestic and global situations to devise suitable policies, said Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung during a cabinet press conference on March 1.

He said that during the cabinet meeting on March 1, ministries, sectors, and localities were urged to implement the measures set out in Government resolutions and their action programmes, as well as in Dispatch 240/CD-TTg dated February 21, 2018 for the implementation of tasks after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment should promptly build a growth scenario and submit it to the Government before March 15.

Minister Dung said that this year, ministries and sectors will focus on finalising some major projects such as the urban railway, Tan Son Nhat airport, and will soon launch the North-South Expressway. There will be a continued reduction in red tape for business conditions and inspection procedures in efforts to assist start-ups and create a smooth investment environment.

Answering reporters’ questions on the Tan Son Nhat airport expression, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said the ministry will continue to gather opinions on the expansion project and determine investment efficiency.

Research on the project by ADPi Engineering from France has been submitted to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

Deputy Minister Dong stressed the significance of the airport’s expansion amid the trend of regional aviation development, including the operation of Long Thanh airport in 2025.

He added that next week, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung will listen to reports before the leaders of the Government consider the project.
