NDO – A delegation of the Embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in Laos, headed by Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung, arrived at the headquarters of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee’s External Affairs Commission on November 23, to extend their congratulations on the 43rd National Day of Laos (December 2, 1975-2018).

The delegation was received by Sunthon Saynhachac, member of the LPRP Central Committee and head of the LPRP Central Committee’s External Affairs Commission.

Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung said that, despite facing numerous difficulties over the past year, especially the fatal collapse of the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydroelectric dam in Sanamxay district, Attapeu provine, the brotherly Lao people have strived to overcome the consequences and gradually stabilised the lives of the people in the disaster-hit localities.

In 2018, under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao economy has been growing constantly, with a projected GDP growth rate of 6.5%, a high level in the region, while the political, security and socio-economic situations have remained stable, he stated.

The diplomat emphasised the increasingly tightened friendly relations and special solidarity between the two countries, manifested through the unceasingly growing friendly ties between the two Parties, States and people, and the fruitful visits exchanged by the two countries’ leaders.

Many major deals reached by the two sides’ leaders have been implemented in line with their plans, including a number of important projects with significant contributions to the economic development and investment cooperation between the two countries, such as the project on cooperation in exploiting Vung Ang Port, the Luang Prabang hydroelectric plant project, and cooperation in constructing infrastructure in the newly established Lao province of Xaysomboun, Hung said.

Thanking the Vietnamese Ambassador for their sentiments on the 43rd anniversary of National Day of Laos, Sunthon Saynhachac hailed Vietnam’s prompt assistance given to Laos in dealing with the hydroelectric dam collapse incident as vivid evidence of the forever durable and never fading relations between the two countries.

She affirmed that Laos always stands by Vietnam on the path of mutual development, for the benefits of the two countries’ people, and for stability and peace in the region and throughout the world.
