NDO - A ceremony to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Lao National Day was jointly held on November 28 by the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Lao Embassy in Hanoi.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association Tran Van Tuy emphasised that the time-honoured friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation relationship between the two countries have continued to be strengthened in recent years.

He stated that education is one of the priority areas in the Vietnam-Laos cooperation with many Lao students being sent to study at Vietnamese universities.

Tuy expressed his expectation that the Laos students studying in Vietnam would make contributions to Laos’s national construction in the future and act as messengers of the Vietnam-Laos friendship, helping to further solidify the bilateral ties.

For his part, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, underlined Vietnam’s assistance to Laos’s achievements in national defence and development over the past 43 years.

He affirmed that the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos has been built by the antecedent revolutionaries and generations of the two countries’ people.

On the occasion, he thanked the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Organisation for honouring 43 Lao students who have shown excellent academic performance.

On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations also hosted a meeting to mark the 43rd anniversary of Lao National Day and express the wish to further cultivate the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.
