NDO –Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh held a meeting with a large number of local voters in the southern province of Vinh Long on June 21 to listen to and address their concerns over various issues.

She met with local voters from districts 1 and 5 in Vinh Long city and in the four communes of Long An, Phu Duc, Long Phuoc, and Phuoc Hau in Long Ho town, Vinh Long province.

At the meeting, the State official informed local voters of the outcomes of the 14th National Assembly’s 7th session and notable economic achievements of the country in the first half of 2019.

Local voters asked the NA to enhance their supervision role to accelerate the implementation of the Trung Luong – My Thuan highway to contribute to socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta region.

They also suggested that the NA and Government should focus resources on upgrading transport infrastructure and key routes connecting provinces in the Mekong Delta region.

Local voters also raised their concerns on other pressing issues including salaries for teachers, environmental pollution, strengthened management over BOT (build-operate-transfer) projects, and the implementation of the law on preventing and combating the harmful effects of alcohol and beer, among others.

The Vice President answered questions of local voters, emphasising that the progress of the Trung Luong – My Thuan highway will be accelerated as the Government has agreed a VND45 trillion (US$1.93 billion) package to promote the development of the Mekong Delta region.
