NDO - Vietnamese Embassy in China held a banquet on September 11 in the capital city of Beijing to celebrate the 74th anniversary of Vietnam National Day (September 2).

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Dang Minh Khoi recalled the glorious moment of the nation 74 years ago when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam).

Since then, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the valuable support from the international friends, the Vietnamese people have gained many important achievements in the struggle for national independence and freedom and in the cause of national construction and defence, he added.

The Ambassador informed of the socio-economic situation in the recent years, such as the GDP growth of 7.08% in 2018 and total import-export turnover of over US$350 billion, as well as achievements in the foreign affairs.

On the occasion, Ambassador Khoi asserted that Vietnam continues to pursue a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multi-lateralisation as well as promote the role of a responsible member of international community, towards the resolution of disagreements and disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the UN Charter.

He expressed his pleasure at the positive development of the relations between Vietnam and China in all fields, including economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism and people exchanges.

The Ambassador gave thanks to leaders, ministries, agencies and localities of China for their sentiments and support to the operation of Vietnamese Embassy, contributing to enhancing the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
