Vietnamese Cambodian people look toward the homeland

NDO – Vietnamese Cambodian people have always upheld the tradition of patriotism, looking toward the homeland.

On the occasion of the 13th National Party Congress, Nhan Dan (People) reporter recorded people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia.

Chairman of the Khmer-Vietnam Association in the Kingdom of Cambodia Chau Van Chi said that the Vietnamese Cambodian people in the country of pagodas and towers have always looked toward the homeland. Despite living far away from the fatherland, they have received the proper support, in both material and spiritual terms, from the Vietnamese Party, State and people. Thereby, the Khmer – Vietnam Association has realised their responsibility in community assistance activities.

In 2020, the Khmer – Vietnam Association coordinated with Vietnamese Embassy and Consulate General promptly propagated and instructed local people to prevent and fight against Covid-19 pandemic as well as helped over 5,000 families severely affected by the epidemic and natural disasters. In addition, the association mobilise the enterprises and individuals to give donations to flood-hit people in the central provinces of Vietnam. On behalf of the Vietnamese Cambodian community, Chi extended his greetings to the 13th National Party Congress and affirmed that they will always look forward to the homeland and significantly contribute to nurturing the friendship between the two countries.

In the ancient city of Siem Reap, which is more than 300 km northwest of the capital city of Phnom Penh, a Vietnamese class has been launched by Le Thi Thuy Linh (34), consisting of 30 students. Linh has honourably led a group of students to attend a gathering held by Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang Province to celebrate the Party’s founding anniversary and Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival. He shared that living far from the country, she and her relatives have always believed in the Party’s leadership. The Vietnamese Cambodian people believe that the 13th National Party Congress will be successful, continuing to bring the country firmly go on the development path.

Like many Vietnamese expats in Battambang, Tran Ba Binh (68) often considers the situation of the homeland. At the ceremony to present Tet gifts to several households of Vietnamese origin living in difficult circumstances in the province, he said that Vietnam’s win over the COVID-19 pandemic was a most congratulatory and important victory of domestic people in the country. Under the leadership of the Party, the country has gained great achievements in many fields.

Binh expressed his hope that the country will develop more prosperously and strongly and that Vietnam’s position will be increasingly improved in the international arena. The 13th National Party Congress will bring the nation forward rapidly and strongly in all aspects.
