NDO - An alliance of six Vietnamese technology companies have launched a virtual conference solution known as CoMeet to meet rising demand amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The open source-based solution has been developed by Vietnamese engineers from CMC TS, NetNam, iWay, Cyradar, FDS and DQN under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).

Speaking at the launch on May 29, MIC Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung stated that the coronavirus is driving digital transformation, which in turn has opened opportunities for local firms to come up with services that can compete with foreign solutions.

He noted that the market for online conference solutions is expected to see strong growth in the time ahead as users have formed new learning and working habits and he believes Vietnamese enterprises should capitalise on this opportunity.

CoMeet’s main features include organising virtual conferences with unlimited participants, sharing the screens of all participants under the administrator’s moderation as well as private chats and conference recordings.

The solution, which is secure with data encryption and participant control, is available on major platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

Earlier on May 15, Zavi, another video conference platform developed by a Vietnamese company, was also made available to the public.
