NDO – The Vingroup Big Data Institute (VinBDI) launched a project on June 19 to pilot the solution of using of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical imaging at Military Central Hospital 108, the Hanoi Medical University Hospital, and the Vinmec Times City Hospital.

By achieving 90% accuracy in identifying abnormalities, the solution is expected to provide effective support for doctors in cancer screening and the early detection of incurable diseases.

The solution has been in development since the end of 2018, with an aim to assist doctors in making accurate and quick decisions in medical imaging.

The solution will have six diagnostic functions, with two of them being implemented in the immediate future, including diagnosis in lung disease through chest radiography and diagnosis of breast cancer through mammography.

The four remaining functions will be put into operation in 2021, including diagnosis of lung cancer, liver cancer, stroke, and brain tumors.

Dr Le Tuan Linh, Head of Diagnostic Imaging Department, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, said that early detection of cancer through diagnostic imaging plays an important role in successful cancer treatment. The application of AI in this field will provide effective support for cancer screening.

He evaluated that VinBDI’s AI solution could take the lead in providing image diagnostic support in the medical field.
