NDO - The Vietnam Musicians Association (VMA) on December 27 held a ceremony to receive the title ‘Hero of the People's Armed Force’ and to celebrate the 57th anniversary since of the establishment of the Association.

The ceremony was attended by Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Addressing the ceremony, VMA President Do Hong Quan said the award marks the recognition by the Party, State and people for contribution made by generations of Vietnamese musicians during the resistance wars for national salvation.

Upholding the fine tradition, the association’s members and artists across the country will continue to make further contribution to preserving and promoting the traditional value of art, as well as joining hands with the whole country in building a Vietnamese culture imbued with national identities, he added.

Over the past years, the VMA and its members have received many noble awards from the Party and State such as the Independence Order, the Ho Chi Minh Order, and the Gold Star Order.

Over 120 musicians were honoured with the Ho Chi Minh prize and State awards for Literature and the Arts. Nearly 50 musicians received the Independence Order and the Labour Order.
