Hanoi: Great National Unity Festival celebrated

NDO – Residential Areas No. 10, 11 and 12 in Hoan Kiem District’s Tran Hung Dao Ward of Hanoi held a get-together to celebrate the Great National Unity Festival on November 15.

The event, which was held on the occasion of the 86th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), saw the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung.

Speaking at the celebration, Deputy PM Binh stressed that strengthening the great national unity bloc was an important policy of the Party and State to promote the highest national power. While implementing such noble tasks over the last 86 years the VFF has promoted national tradition of unity to gather and unite all social strata, forming a great revolutionary force, which has contributed to the struggle for national liberation, unification, doi moi (renovation) and international integration.

Binh also praised achievements gained by the three neighbourhoods in 2016, stressing that the achievement has contributed greatly to the overall results of Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi and the country in implementing the “All People Unite to Build a New Countryside and Civilised Urban Areas” campaign.

In such spirit, the deputy PM proposed the residential areas continue to uphold their solidarity, striving for further results in Party building, the VFF’s development and construction of the thousand year old Hanoi, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

He also urged authorities of Hanoi to promote its role as the nation’s centre of politics, economy, culture, education, and science and technology to successfully implement objectives set, while strengthening the great national unity bloc and building consensus in local socioeconomic development.

In 2017, the city administration at all levels should improve their role in implementing emulation movements, responding to feedback from the people in association with enhancing explanation and providing information, all while continuing to care for the poor and policy beneficiaries.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Binh and the city’s leaders presented gifts to disadvantaged households in the three above residential areas.
