Former Vice State President and President of the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation (VPDF) Nguyen Thi Binh received Professor Thomas N. Gardner, Dean of the Westfield State University’s Communication Faculty, in Hanoi on June 11.

At the reception, the VPDF leader affirmed that the Vietnamese people always bear in mind the assistance given by international friends, including the US people, who took part in the movements against the war in Vietnam.

She said she hopes the visit will help US professors and students better understand Vietnam’s history, its hospitality and friendship as well as the country’s peace loving spirit.

For his part, Professor Gardner recalled his memories of launching the US students campaign to protest the war in Vietnam and the conference to call for an end to the war in Vietnam in Bratislava, Prague , 46 years ago.

Both the host and guest said the visit is a good opportunity for US students to explore Vietnam’s history, land and people and to see changes in the country and efforts to solve the consequences of the war.

During the visit, the US delegation visited the Vietnam Friendship Village in Van Canh commune, Hoai Duc district, Hanoi.
