NDO – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh hosted a reception at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi on October 25 for a delegation of war veterans, families and relatives of martyrs' and national contributors from the southernmost province of Ca Mau who are on a visit to the capital city.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Binh, who is also a Politburo member, stated that Ca Mau has a revolutionary tradition as it was a resistant base during the past two resistant wars. Its population is not great in number but the rate of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with merit to the revolution is huge. Currently, the province has over 108,000 policy beneficiaries, including 16,529 wounded, 17,786 martyrs and 2,425 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

The senior government official said that the Party and State have issued multiple policies to support the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veterans, retired officers and people with meritorious services to the revolution. However, they still could not make up for all their sacrifices to the nation. The Government is stepping up development of more complete policies, raising the subsidies and preferential allowances benchmark and further improving the policy for national contributors, he affirmed.

Praising the efforts by Ca Mau authorities in taking care of wounded soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and revolutionary contributors, he suggested the province further promote this meaningful work. In addition to the State budget, it is necessary to mobilise other sources from the community to better serve the care of people with meritorious services and family policies, Deputy PM Binh proposed.

Ca Mau should link economic development with social welfare, he urged, adding that local revolutionaries should promote their will and set a good example for the young generation to follow, while calling the youngsters in their families to effectively implement the Party and State’s policies and law and actively contribute to the local socio-economic development and security.
