NDO/VNA - The central province of Quang Tri will hold a festival to mark the 44th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30) and the 47th anniversary of the liberation of the province (May 1).

The office of the provincial People’s Committee said on April 10 that one of the major activities within the festival is an art programme at Hien Luong Bridge across Ben Hai River, which divided Vietnam during the war, on April 29.

The programme, to be organised by the Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper and the provincial People’s Committee, will include performances of artists from the Vietnam Contemporary Art Theatre and their local colleagues.

Social policy beneficiaries will receive gifts within the programme, which will be broadcast live on the Nhan Dan TV Channel and local radio and TV channels.

Other activities like a flag-raising ceremony, an inaugural ceremony of the project on upgrading the southern bank of the Hien Luong-Ben Hai special national historical site, a boat race and a Bai Choi singing performance will take place on April 30.
