Hung Yen’s Van Giang district honoured with Labour Order

General To Lam grants the Labour Order, third class to authorities of Van Giang district

NDO –A grand ceremony was held by Van Giang district in the northern province of Hung Yen on September 14 to mark the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Van Giang district and receive the Labour Order, third class.

The ceremony also recognised the district to meet all criteria set for a new-style rural district in the presence of General To Lam, Politburo member, and Minister of Public Security.

The economy of Van Giang district has seen strong growth over the past 20 years with a total production value of over VND16.4 trillion (US$705.2 million), an increase of 40 times compared to 1999.

The average income per capita is estimated at nearly VND60 million per year (US$2,580) and the poverty rate has been reduced to 1.77%.

In addition, 100% of communes in Van Giang district have been recognised as new-style rural communes and Van Giang district has also been recognised as a new-style rural district by the Government.

Addressing the ceremony, General To Lam praised achievements made by the authorities and people of Van Giang district over the past 20 years. He asked the province to continue to promote its solidarity and strength to build a strong district regarding economy, defence and security while enhancing the living standards for the locals.

The province was also told to boost high-tech agriculture, tourism, education and healthcare services in addition to fostering administrative reforms and the building of an e-government.
