Gathering marks 102nd anniversary of the Russian October Revolution

NDO – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) hosted a gathering on November 5 to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (1917-2019) and the 40th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association (1979-2019).

Addressing the event, Hoang Minh Nhat, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association reiterated that the Russian October Revolution not only held special significance to Vietnam’s history but also laid the foundation for Vietnam – Russia traditional relations.

Despite historical ups and downs, the Vietnam – Russia ties have been further strengthened and developed, he stressed.

He pledged that the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association would do its best to nurture and promote the traditional relationship between the two countries and peoples.

Echoing the same view, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Aleksei Vladimirovich Popov said that the October Revolution opened up a new chapter in Russia’s history and marked the start of the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Soviet Union, now Russia.

The Russian Consul General congratulated the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association on its founding anniversary, hailing that the chapter’s operation has contributed to increasing mutual understanding, tightening solidarity and the traditional friendship between people of the two countries, thus deepening Vietnam – Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
