Ethnic minority cultures enrich Vietnamese culture: Deputy PM

NDO - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has hailed the cultural contributions of ethnic minority groups as having enriched Vietnamese cultural diversity and strengthened the national solidarity.

He made the statement while speaking at the congress of an association of artists and writers who belong to ethnic minority groups, held in Hanoi on November 18.

The Deputy PM affirmed that national solidarity is a strategic issue and that the Party and State always pay attention to safeguarding and promoting the culture, language and fine traditions of ethnic groups.

He stressed that the cultural achievements of the more than 50 ethnic groups has helped Vietnamese culture to grow unceasingly with unity in diversity.

Dam took the occasion to ask ethnic artists and writers to tap their talent and devote themselves to national culture, helping to build a Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese people that meet the requirements of a new period of sustainable development.

The Vietnamese Association of Ethnic Minority Arts and Literature has over 1,000 members belonging to 40 local societies in cities and provinces across Vietnam.

The association’s congress will conclude on November 19.
