NDO – Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue has called on the city’s youth union to make initiatives and suggestions to help the city’s leaders in the fight against COVID-19 while maintaining economic growth.

The city’s Party leader made the request while working with the Hanoi chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) on March 26 to review its operations and participation in the COVID-19 fight.

He took the occasion to extend best greetings to the city’s youth union members on the 89th founding anniversary of the HCYU (March 26, 1931 – 2020).

He spoke highly of the achievements made by HCYU’s Hanoi chapter in hosting youth activities and programmes, which have contributed to facilitating the city’s political stability and socio-economic development.

While outlining major tasks for the coming time, he asked the chapter to focus its patriotic emulation movement on the prevention and control of COVID-19 while ensuring socio-economic development.

The chapter was also requested to enhance the operation of youth unions at grassroots level, particularly in rural areas, urban areas, and industrial parks.

He stressed that Hanoi youths must take a vanguard role in addressing pressing issues in the city, including environmental pollution and traffic jams.

According to Deputy Secretary of the chapter Ly Duy Xuan, Hanoi youths have actively coordinated with the health sector to deliver free face masks and leaflets on COVID-19 preventive measures for local residents.

The chapter has mobilised nearly 3,000 volunteer students at medical training facilities to participate in the fight against the epidemic in the capital city.
