NDO - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has asked the Ministry of Transport to increase the number of domestic flights to 20 per day from April 23-30, following the end of the second period of social distancing on April 22.

Six flights each will be allocated to the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and the low-cost carrier Vietjet Air while Bamboo Airways and Jetstar Pacific may operate four flights.

For the services between Da Nang and Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet will have three flights while Bamboo and Jetstar will be allowed to operate two flights.

The CAAV also suggested that each carrier operate a flight from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to another destination each day.

For the Ho Chi Minh City-Con Dao service, up to four flights per day are permitted.

The CAAV noted that airlines will still have to arrange each passenger at least one seat away from another on the flights leaving Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as a measure to prevent Covid-19.

After the first period of social distancing, from April 1-15, there were six flights per day on the Hanoi-Chi Minh City route, with two each for Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet, and one each for Bamboo and Jetstar.

The services between Da Nang and Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City, with two flights per day, were divided between Vietnam and Vietjet.
