NDO – Thousands of young people joined a launch ceremony for the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2020 in Ho Chi Minh city on July 12.

Scheduled to take place from July 12 to August 16, the campaign, launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City, is expected to draw the participation of over 100,000 youth union members and young people carrying out their duties in 24 districts and towns in the city, 13 provinces in the Central Highlands, Southeast and Southwest regions as well as Tho Chu Island District in Kien Giang Province.

Themed “Ho Chi Minh City youth act creatively and voluntarily for the community”, the summer youth volunteer programme will focus on helping people in disadvantaged localities, remote coastal communes and islands.

Young volunteers are also encouraged to engage in environmental protection, blood donation, helping students during their exam periods, and other social programmes.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union also targets to repair and build 2,500 km of rural road, offer medical checks and treatment for 200,000 people, and build 700 charity houses nationwide.
