NDO - Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh visited Quang Nam Province on October 21 to examine damaged roads and bridges in the area and inspect flood relief efforts in its mountainous district of Tay Giang.

Sharing in the difficulties facing the local people, the Deputy PM noted that the district authorities should utilise its own resources to quickly deal with the consequences of rains and floods, in addition to the support from the central and provincial governments.

He also called for continued measures to prevent future disasters and protect the people’s lives and properties.

On the occasion, he presented gifts to households that have been severely affected by the flooding, VND100 million (nearly US$4,300) to the Tay Giang Learning Encouragement Fund, and gifts to several armed units in the district.

On the same day, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong visited residents affected by flooding in Thua Thien Hue Province.

She spoke highly of the provincial authorities’ efforts to deal with the consequences of flooding and promptly provide food and other essentials items to flood-hit residents, as well as the efforts to rescue the missing construction workers at the Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant.

The NA leader asked Thua Thien Hue Province to arrange shelter for those whose homes were swept away while ensuring that no-one is left hungry or homeless after the floodwaters recede.
