Nhan Dan Online – A ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of a multi-purpose cultural house was held on Toc Tan B Island, under Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago on May 11.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Hanoi’s Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Cong Soai along with an official delegation from Hanoi.

The multi-purpose house, with a total investment of VND 27 billion (US$1.2 million), is scheduled to be completed within one year.

The house, as a gift from the capital’s Party Committee and people to cadres and soldiers on mission on Truong Sa archipelago, contributes to improve material facilities for Truong Sa soldiers, who are overcoming difficulties and to firmly protect the Fatherland’s seas and islands.

Located under Truong Sa archipelago, the Toc Tan island has the important geographical position and political significance.
