Nhan Dan – The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada has held a meeting in Toronto to update attendees on new developments in the East Sea, Vietnam’s resistant measures and to appeal for donations to support law enforcement forces and fishermen in protecting national sovereignty over Vietnamese sea and islands.

Vietnamese ambassador to Canada To Anh Dung disseminated information about China’s recent violations to international law and Vietnam’s sovereignty in the East Sea, stating the resolution and measures which Party and State leaders and Vietnamese people are taking to protect the national sovereignty.

The diplomat called on international friends to support Vietnam’s stance on resolving the issues related to the East Sea and then asked the Vietnamese community in Toronto and surrounding regions to uphold their unity and join hands to protect the national sovereignty through practical actions and by engaging with campaigns which support maritime police and fisheries surveillance forces.

The participants agreed that national unity is a key factor in generating strength to help the country overcome it’s difficulties. Attendees then expressed their belief in the responsive policy of the State and the Government.

They donated VND100 million (US$4,700) to support the law enforcement forces and fishermen. This donation makes a total donation from Canada of VND280 million (US$13,160).
