Addressing the event on September 2, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach said that over the last seven decades, Vietnam has moved on from the past and always looks towards the future, turning enemies in the past into its major partners of today.

The country has served as an active member of many regional and global organisations, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations, he noted.

The diplomat also highlighted that Vietnam and Iran see huge potential for cooperation and the two nations should work to complement each other and improve mutual understanding between their people.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpour spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements over the past years and affirmed that Iran will continue to foster ties with Vietnam.

Guests at the event had a chance to enjoy traditional Vietnamese food and music performances by Vietnamese artists.
