Activities mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday

NDO – An array of activities were held both nationwide and overseas over the recent days to celebrate the 126th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890-2016).

>>> Exhibition marks anniversary of Viet Minh Front

A scientific workshop entitled “President Ho Chi Minh with Viet Minh Front” took place in Hanoi on the morning of May 18, with nearly 20 speeches clarifying the core contents of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology on the Vietnam United National Front and highlighting the meaning of the Vietnam Independence Alliance Association (also referred to as the Viet Minh Front) to the Vietnam revolution.

Attendees hailed the establishment of the Viet Minh Front as a bright symbol of the great national unity ideology of President Ho Chi Minh, affirming the righteous revolutionary leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the great leader Ho Chi Minh.

The Viet Minh Front, founded and led by President Ho Chi Minh, has forged precious experiences of both theoretical and practical meaning, they said, stressing that President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology on the front always functions as a foundation for the CPV to inherit and develop in the era of international integration and promoting national industrialisation and modernisation.

* The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a ceremony on May 18 to honour 157 exemplary individuals and 245 outstanding collectives in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology and morale example.

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates paid tribute to Uncle Ho and respectfully reported the results of studying and following his morale example to the great President.

* On the same day, the Thua Thien Hue-branch Ho Chi Minh Museum organised a seminar entitled “President Ho Chi Minh and 1946 Constitution” on the occasion of his 126th birth anniversary and the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s first Constitution.

The event featured 60 speeches made by scientists, officials, university lecturers and representatives of research centres from across the country, focusing on the topics of the role of President Ho Chi Minh to the founding process of the 1946 Constitution; ideology of the President reflected in the 1946 Constitution; basic rights stipulated in the Constitution and political building in Vietnam.

On the afternoon of May 18, an exhibition of propaganda posters on President Ho Chi Minh opened at the Hue College of Art, introducing 60 works on Uncle Ho produced from the 1960s till now.

* On May 17, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa held a ceremony to mark the 126th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. Attendees joined talks about the morale example of Uncle Ho, recalled his revolutionary ideology in foreign affairs, and honoured outstanding individuals and collectives in studying and following the President’s morale example.
