Parliamentarians pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh

NDO – A delegation of Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front leaders and National Assembly (NA) deputies on May 19 paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of his 130th birthday (May 19) and in preparation for the 14th parliament’s ninth session.

Prominent in the delegation were Politburo members: NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Minister of Public Security To Lam; as well as Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man.

Other NA deputies attending the ninth session of the 14th National Assembly were also present.

Laying a wreath at the mausoleum of the President in Hanoi, the delegates expressed their endless gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh who devoted his life to the struggle for national liberation and reunification; as well as the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and nation.

* Also on the same day, a delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front, led by Politburo member and Secretary of the City Party Committee, offered incense and laid wreaths to pay homage to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Museum and then at his monument in Nguyen Hue street, district 1.

The delegates also paid tribute to late President Ton Duc Thang at a museum dedicated to him.

* Leaders and officials in the Central Highland province of Gia Lai and the southern province of Dong Nai also paid respect to President Ho Chi Minh for his contributions to the cause of national independence.

* As part of activities to mark the late President’s birth anniversary, Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee held a seminar themed “The expansion of the model of studying and following Uncle Ho – Situations and solutions”.

Also this morning, a workshop on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle, was held in the Mekong River Delta province of Ben Tre.

* An exhibition of books and documents providing an overview of President Ho Chi Minh’s life and career opened on May 19 at the website

The highlights are publications written and compiled by President Ho, such as “Nhat Ky Trong Tu” (Diary in Prison) and Duong Kach Menh (The Revolutionary Path).

The exhibition also features nearly 700 book titles published by leading publishers as well as over 1,000 precious documents, photos and stamps featuring President Ho Chi Minh.

Videos, reports and films on the Presidents are also screened at the event.

At the seminar themed “Uncle Ho with adolescents and children in the capital city”

* On the occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU), Hanoi branch, held a seminar themed “Uncle Ho with adolescents and children in the capital city”; meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Academy of Journalism and Communication, organised a conference on “President Ho Chi Minh and education”.

* On May 19, Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee and Military Command launched a tree-planting festival, in commemoration of the great leader.
