NDO – Regardless of the wet stadium caused by the rainy weather, all members of the Vietnam U16s, coached by Nguyen Mai Lan, were excitedly involved in training on September 10, three days ahead of their departure for Thailand to compete in the 2019 AFC U16 Women’s Championship finals.

In the morning session, the players continued to do fitness exercises with tools for more than one hour. Head coach Nguyen Mai Lan and assistants have closely watched and made adjustments for the players when needed during each session.

As the tournament draws closer, the coaching staff set stricter expertise requirements and an increasing level of difficulty for lessons, forcing the players to constantly try and make utmost efforts to complete their training programmes.

Head coach of Vietnam’s women’s U19 team, Ijiri Akira, always keeps a close eye and gives advice to the U16 squad. Earlier in March, Akira also accompanied Nguyen Mai Lan’s troops to attend the second qualification round.

Vietnam U16s currently have three goalkeepers, including the main keeper Dao Thi Kieu Oanh and two substitutes.
