NDO – Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN have rekindled their hopes of avoiding relegation at the end of the V.League season after thrashing Nam Dinh FC with three unanswered goals in their Matchday 24 meeting on September 21.

Sanna Khanh Hoa headed into the home clash with strong determination knowing that a win was a must for them to continue fostering their chance of retaining a V.League berth next year.

Inspired by the home-field advantage, Vo Dinh Tan’s side deployed proactive attacks and produced constant threats in the opening 20 minutes thanks to shots by Patiyo and Minh Huy.

Deadlocked in attacks, Nam Dinh FC looked to set-pieces as the good opportunities to score. They came close to opening the scoring on the half hour mark, but Le Sy Minh failed to beat keeper Tuan Manh from a freekick situation.

While it had seemed like it would be a goalless draw for the first half, Nguyen Trung Dai Duong gifted Sanna Khanh Hoa a 1-0 lead into half-time with a 44th-minute long-range strike that proved cunning enough to beat keeper Xuan Viet.

The advantage was doubled for the hosts 10 minutes after the break, with Youssouf Toure successfully converting a penalty after Le Van Phu was knocked down by Zarour Chaher in the box.

The two-goal lead enabled Vo Dinh Tan’s troops to play more confidently, and they needed only nine more minutes to secure a third goal thanks to Patiyo’s powerful header from close range.

With nothing to lose, the guests strengthened their offence seeking for a consolidation. Diogo had a clear-cut chance to save Nam Dinh from a straight defeat in the 84th minute, but he could not beat keeper Tuan Manh in a one-on-one.

Despite not being enough to lift Sanna Khanh Hoa out of the bottom place, the 3-0 home victory has allowed Vo Dinh Tan’s side to narrow their gap with second-from-bottom Thanh Hoa FC to just one point and to continue nurturing their hopes of avoiding relegation with two games left to play.

In the other fixture on Saturday, SHB Da Nang edged past Thanh Hoa 1-0, thanks to Anh Tuan’s stoppage-time goal, to officially escape from relegation regardless of the results of the remaining matches. Le Huynh Duc’s troops are now in fifth place with 33 points, eight clear of the red-alert zone.
