VNAT attaches priority to ensuring safe environment during upcoming holiday

NDO – The strict implementation of the Prime Minister’s directions on COVID-19 prevention and control is an important task in maintaining the achievements in the fight against the pandemic and ensuring the health of people and visitors.

Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Trung Khanh made the statement at a teleconference held on April 28 with the tourism departments of 13 cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Hai Phong, Kien Giang, Thua Thien Hue, Ninh Binh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Binh Dinh and Thanh Hoa.

He asked the local authorities to fully observe Prime Minister’s dispatch issued on April 23, 2021, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s document on intensifying measures to prevent COVID-19 dated April 26, 2021,.

He emphasised that tourism management agencies in localities need to strengthen their management and inspection of the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures, particularly during the upcoming national holidays marking Reunification Day and May Day (April 30-May1) and the summer holidays, when travel is expected to spike.

He reported that the VNAT will organise four working delegation to inspect the COVID-19 prevention and control in Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang and Kien Giang.

According to Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department, the city’s hospitality sector has developed plans in response to any possible developments of the pandemic in the city.

The department has also coordinated with the city’s public security force to inspect local accommodation establishments in detecting and handling illegal entrants.
